The knockout stages never disappoint, and it doesn’t appear like they will at the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
After its dominant 2-0 win over Morocco in the quarterfinals, France has grabbed the first semifinal spot.
With the victory, Les Bleus became the third nation ever to make three consecutive World Cup semifinals. France has now reached its eighth World Cup semifinal in its nation’s history.
France’s odds to win the tournament have jumped from +180 to +130, the lowest they’ve been since the initial odds came out.

Here’s what to know about this oddsboard:
The Favorite: France beat Sweden 3-0 in the Round of 32, topped Paraguay 1-0 in the Round of 16, and then defeated Morocco 2-0 in the quarterfinals. France is outscoring opponents 16-2 so far this tournament, and all three of its superstars — Kylian Mbappé, Ousmane Dembélé and Michael Olise — have already made their marks. France (Mbappé with eight, Dembélé with five) is the first team since 2002 Brazil to have two players score five goals in a single World Cup. Les Bleus awaits the winner of Spain vs. Belgium in the semis.
Spain and Belgium Rise: Spain emerged victorious from a matchup between two top-five teams in the FIFA rankings, taking down Portugal 1-0 on a stoppage time (90’+1) goal from Mikel Merino. Spain gets back to the quarterfinals for the first time since its championship run in 2010. It is now unbeaten in 35 straight games (26-9-0, W-D-L) since March 2024, tying the longest undefeated run in team history (also had a 35-game streak snapped by the U.S. in the 2009 Confederations Cup semifinals). With the win, Spain has still yet to allow a goal in this tournament. In the quarterfinals, Spain will face Belgium, after it dominated the USA in the Round of 16, winning 4-1. Belgium advances to the quarterfinals of the World Cup for the first time since 2018, the fourth time overall, and the third time in the last four editions of the tournament (1986, 2014, 2018, 2026).
